About the Author
Kerby Rosanes is a Phillipines-based artist. He works mainly with ordinary black pens to magically illustrate his "doodle" world. Most of his works are characterized by whimsical lines, patterns, characters, and little elements that are spontaneously combined to create massive compositions depicting his everyday experiences or anything that inspires him.Kerby left his job as a graphic designer in a local company to finally pursue his passion: creating more art for personal projects and for various clients and collaborating with other artists and design agencies around the world. Some of his current clients include Nike, Mazda, the National Art Society, Kult, Typ, Humm, and Puzzle Planet. He is the artist behind Animorphia, Imagimorphia, Doodle Invasion, and the upcoming Doodle Invasion 2, and he has a popular new art series called Geometric Beasts.

full of AMAZING art, but very light on commentary
By I Sniff Books - Beth
[[VIDEOID:f03cc0735761cbd4a2d14538aab89d7b]]Kerby Rosanes is the artist behind the wildly popular Doodle Invasion: Zifflin's Coloring Book (Volume 1), Animorphia: An Extreme Coloring and Search Challenge, and Imagimorphia (US edition to release on June 21) coloring books. And now fans are able to hold a facsimile reproduction of Kerby’s original sketchbook in their hands via Sketchy Stories: The Sketchbook Art of Kerby Rosanes.
Sketchy Stories is presented as a moleskine notebook sized 5.25 x 8.25 inches with a black elastic band to keep it closed. The binding style is flexi binding — the book lays nearly completely flat when open — which is awesome because many of Kerby’s art pieces are double-page spreads. Sketchy Stories has 128 pages. The cream colored paper has a nice weight to it — I’m no paper expert but it feels like at least 120 gsm paper.
Sketchy Stories opens with an illustrated title page, copyright page, and dedication page. Next follows a four page introduction by Chuckie Campbell, Ph.D., a one page preface by Kerby, and then a double-page spread discussing Kerby’s technique and process. And then, comes all of Kerby’s AMAZING art. The art is absolutely stunning. But you already knew it would be, didn’t you?! It is really cool to see how Kerby’s art has evolved from 2012 – 2016.
Now that being said, I think there is a bit of a disconnect between the book’s description and the content. The back of the book states the art is “…interspersed with techniques and inspirations…” but, unfortunately, I found this type of wordy content to be most lacking. I was really expecting Kerby to share the inspiration for many (certainly not all) of his pieces, even if it was just a few sentences — but he only comments on ten of them. Likewise, others may be a smidge disappointed that there is only one double-page spread devoted to Kerby’s technique.
I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to treat the “sketchbook” as a coloring book and put pencil to paper. Not sure if that would be considered disrespectful to the book or to the art.

so fabulous!
By RedShoesGirl
this is SO beautiful, but oh my, the drawings so tiny. i am not sure i can colour in the book itself. i may just copy the pages i want to colour and enlarge. but i am really glad i bought the book. the paper is nice and thick, the pages lay down flat so the gutter is not too bad. pretty cool book!
La Gioconda i scanned and then had printed on A3 paper because it was just too detailed to colour in the book and i loved this drawing. the flamingo i coloured in the book.
UPDATE: if you press hard while colouring, the ink from the backside of the page will transfer to the next page and vice versa so be sure to put something between the pages when colouring.

this is a small sketchbook of some really amazing art. i don't even want to color it since the drawings are so intricate and amazing on their own. some of the pictures do run right into the seam of the page, which would make coloring into the crease difficult. very nice collection.
